Dirty Work - The Story of Lackey - a 1930's gangster crime fiction book

by Isabella Adams

Clyde Flynn is a big-shot gangster who has made quite a few enemies along the way.

Owen Shayne is a washed up gambler who Flynn decides is an ideal candidate for his blackmailing scheme. Owen also has an older brother who happens to work for the police and Flynn decides this is another piece of leverage to keep Owen working for him.

Then there’s Flynn’s second-hand man and watchdog, Lackey to keep Owen in line.

As Owen gets sucked further down into a life of crime, he learns two things fast—his luck ran out at the casino, and there’s a big mystery surrounding this guy, Lackey.

In early 1900’s, The Hardboiled Mystery made its debut into the realm of fiction.

During the prohibition era of gunslingers, wise-cracking heroes, femme fatales, and villainous crime-lords, the genre reached a climatic height in the 1940s with the rise of cinema’s Film Noir.

Slowly it began to fade, but it left behind a multitude of timeless classics. Inspired by these classics, Isabella Adams revisits the genre with her own twists, wit, and colorful characters.

And Isabella Adams is never in short supply of witty humor.

Dirty Work – The Story of Lackey is the first in the Dirty Work series, and is a great introduction to these clever, scintillating characters.

Isabella’s writing is tight, clean, and punchy – making a fast-paced, enjoyable read that’ll have you laughing out loud.

Content: gambling, blackmail, crime, corruption, but no explicit content
